CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA / RankWire.AI / – Bank of America has unveiled a $250 billion funding plan dedicated to vital infrastructure projects throughout the United States. This initiative is set to span 18 months, encompassing eligible activities from January 1, 2026, until July 4, 2027. Its focus includes investments in digital infrastructure, energy systems, and fundamental public works. The bank emphasized that the program aims to back projects related to technology, power generation, transportation, water systems, and other crucial sectors.

The Critical Infrastructure Finance Initiative extends beyond conventional lending. Bank of America will incorporate qualifying primary-market loans, investments, capital markets transactions, and advisory services into the $250 billion goal. Additionally, the program involves banking services and supply-chain solutions connected to eligible infrastructure initiatives. Funding can be used to support both corporate entities and individual assets. The bank will leverage its corporate banking, investment banking, and markets divisions as it collaborates with clients seeking capital for major U.S. projects.
Digital infrastructure is a key component of the program. Eligible projects include data centers, telecommunications networks, semiconductors, computing hardware, and related equipment. Under the energy category, the focus covers both traditional and renewable power generation, energy storage, and distribution systems. Core infrastructure encompasses transportation, electricity transmission, grid upgrades, water systems, critical minerals, and mining. Bank of America stated that the initiative also aims to meet the increasing infrastructure needs linked to computing, manufacturing, energy supply, and domestic supply chains.
Focus areas include technology, energy, and vital infrastructure
The bank indicated that its Global Capital Solutions and Global Infrastructure & Sustainable Finance teams will oversee the coordination of the program. All eight of its business lines will participate. Jim DeMare, co-president of Bank of America, highlighted that the initiative emphasizes infrastructure supporting the economy, energy security, and technological progress. The bank plans to monitor qualifying transactions over the 18-month period, with these transactions contributing toward the overall $250 billion commitment.
Creating jobs and fostering workforce development are also among the goals of the initiative. Bank of America noted that infrastructure projects can generate employment opportunities in construction, manufacturing, technology, and ongoing operations. The company also endorses training programs through employers, nonprofit groups, and community colleges. In 2025, it allocated nearly $40 million to over 730 workforce development partners across U.S. markets, focusing on skills training, education, and employment readiness.
The financing goal extends through July 2027
During 2025, the bank reported that its workforce partners connected more than 90,000 individuals with employment opportunities. These organizations also provided training, education, or career-readiness programs to over 290,000 people. Bank of America clarified that these figures are separate from the new infrastructure financing target. Karen Fang, global head of infrastructure and sustainable finance, stated that large infrastructure projects require coordinated financing across multiple sectors. She also serves as co-head of Global Capital Solutions.
The bank will measure progress based on eligible financing activities completed within the program duration. Its approach aligns with the framework used for its existing $1.5 trillion sustainable finance goal. The new initiative concentrates specifically on infrastructure development and modernization in the United States. Its July 4, 2027 end date extends beyond the country’s 250th anniversary. Bank of America concluded that this effort will bolster infrastructure, job creation, economic activity, and community development nationwide.
